It is the river with the greater absolute entire flow of all in the peninsula and it bathes the lands of Toro and all its territories. It has a dense network of tributaries that gather waters of the Cantabrian mountains, the Iberian system and the Central system.

Under the watchtower the river turns towards Zamora. With its 897 km is the third longest river in the peninsula after the Tajo and the Ebro.
