There are six sections that constitute the "Aqua" Exposition in the Collegiate Church of Toro and in the Santo Sepulcro Church. With the water as a guiding theme of the life and the theology, "The Ages of Man" Exhibition has 137 pieces of all the dioceses of Castilla y León and Portugal and 43 from Zamora. The official opening ceremony of the art and historical expositions is in  2016.

"Aqua" is divided into six chapters relating to water as a guiding theme of "The Ages of Man" Exhibition, theology and the life that the Duero River marks. The Collegiate Church of Santa María La Mayor hosts the first four chapters of the exhibition while the last two can be seen in the Church of Santo Sepulcro.

The objective of the exhibition is to achieve dialogue between art and culture. "It helps us to love our heritage and recognize our roots and history."

The chapters are:

I. Water of life

II. Preparing the ways

III. Heavens opened

IV. Christ, the source of living water

V. The baptism  that saves us

VI. Reborn by water and the Holy Spirit.

 

I. Water of life

Artworks of mythology and philosophy, exploitation of hydraulic resources and the Father Duero are the main themes of this chapter. There are artworks for the blind, mercies of the choirs of Palencia and Burgos and paintings of Carlos Piñel , José María Mezquita, Antonio Pedrero and Seco San Esteban from Zamora. In addition,  we can see the water in its liquid state and as snow. It has a bunch of photos de Ángel Quintas and ceramics from the pottery workshop of Moveros and Toro next to the three paintings of Antonio López.

II. Preparing the ways

The second of the chapters integrates the Old Testament with episodes as the creation, the flood and biblical characters such as the patriarchs, Moses and the crossing of the Red See, the prophets Up until John the Baptist. In this chapter highlight the Santísima Trinidad of Benavente, Moses, saved from the waters located in the Chapel of Remedios.

III. Heavens opened

The figure of John is the protagonist of the third of the chapters, that illustrates the birth of the Baptist, the preaching, the martyrdom and the baptism of Christ. The province has a presence in this chapter with the child John the Baptist baptizing The Child Jesus of Fuentelapeña, and several authors as Gil de Ronza, Juan de Montejo, Gregorio Fernández, Esteban de Rueda. Also includes a painting of Francisco de Zurbarán, Lorenzo de Ávil, Fernando Gallego from the Cathedral of Zamora, Javier Carpintero and Torre Cavero from the Church of Cristo Rey.

IV. Christ, the source of living water

The fourth of the chapters is dedicated to the figure of Jesus Christ and the various passages of the Gospels in which the water appears: the vocation of the disciples, the 'Wedding at Cana', the Samaritan woman, the washing of the feet, Pilate and The Launched when from Jesus' wounded heart flow life-giving blood and water.

V. The baptism  that saves us

In the Church of Santo Sepulcro, the fifth chapter has artworks related to the Sacrament of Baptism such as baptismal fonts and shells, chrismatories, cruets, pitchers, situla and swabs for the holy water. "The relief" of Hipólito Pérez Calvo, "Foot washing of Pilate" of Villanueva del Campo are some of the paintings from Zamora.

VI. Reborn by water and the Holy Spirit.

The last of the chapters of the exhibition is dedicated to the water-related Saints such as James the Great (who arrives to Spain by boat by Finisterre), San Cristóbal, San Nicolás de Bari or the first bishop of the Diocese of Zamora, San Atilano represented by the fish and the ring.

The ending is the "Risen Christ" from Toro work of Antonio Tomé: "If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. " as Scripture says: "Whoever [...] believes in me, streams of life-giving water shall pour out from his heart."

 

It includes music of David Rivas and the sound of the water.
